The Number of the Beast, Counterfeit of the Law's...: a reminder concerning name. Notice the clear and obvious references that Revelation 13 is making to the Ten Commandments... to the first half, the first four commandments, dealing with love to God.
(1) God says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:3) and they, the people of Revelation 13:11-18, "...worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed." (Revelation 12:13)... they worship the sea beast of Revelation 13:1.
(2a) God says, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:" (Exodus 20:4) and they, the people of Revelation 13:11-18, "...make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live." (Revelation 13:14)... they make an image of and to the sea beast of Revelation 13:1.
(2b) God says, "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments." (Exodus 20:5,6) and they, the people of Revelation 13:11-18, "...worship the image of the beast..." (Revelation 13:15)... they worship the image of and to the sea beast of Revelation 13:1.
(3) God says, "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." (Exodus 20:7) and while Revelation does not directly say that they, the people of Revelation 13:11-18, take God's name in vain, it does say that rather than taking God's name they take another's, they take "...in their foreheads ... the mark ... the name of the beast..." (Revelation 13:16,17)... they take the name of the sea beast of Revelation 13:1 rather than God's name.
Note (or Recall?): name = (equals) character... and character is located in the frontal lobe, in or behind the forehead.
(4) God says, "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." (Exodus 20:8-11) and they, the people of Revelation 13:11-18, take "...a mark in their right hand ... the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16,17)... they take the number of the name of the sea beast of Revelation 13:1??? What? What is the connection here? How are these things connected? Revelation 13:18 reads "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding..." Revelation is not an easy book to understand but keep looking to understand! Please go and check out my other slides and they will explain it all... they will explain "...the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." (Revelation 13:18)
